This was an interesting read. I don't get the recent "one sport" mentality. Your odds of becoming a professional athlete are still slim to none (unless you're named Manning). I think the athlete really misses out on diversity in learning by becoming one-dimensional.
Personally, I was a two sporter. Football in the Fall and track in the spring and before that baseball. I took winter to train and focus on other stuff (not to mention my one year of wrestling was more than enough) and summer was a mix of baseball, softball, golf and training for football.
